Hotlap:
Saturday was my first race of the season ! It was a laptime-race and not a postion one. The course of the race was 4 session of 15minutes and we have to do the best laptime. We were driving in the "125cc fun" category so there was rotax and x30. Junior and senior were together in the same leaderboard. The first session I finished 5th/13, in the second session I was 7th/13, in the third I did 10th/14 and finally I was 9th/15. I got a lot of experience and even if the result wasn't the one we wanted I had a lot of fun.
Kappelen Race 1:
- Qualy : P7
- Race 1: P6
- Race 2: P5
- Final : P5
Was overall a good race on the rain.
Seeland Round 1:
- Quali: P4
- Race 1 P6->P1->P3(crash)->P8(pen.)
- Race 2 P8->P6
- Race 3 P6->P5
Very disapointed with the first race. The engine didn't wanted to start and I had to overtake the whole grid to get back in position. Took 5sec penalty for "overtaking after the red line in the formation lap". The red line wasn't even visible on the track. Went from P6 to P2 in 2 laps and overtook the first a couple of lap later. The I got taken out by the second causing me to finish third (8th after the penalty). Very mad about the fact that I got a penalty for nothing and the driver who took me out hasn't got any penalty. The rest of the races was pretty clean with only 2sec between the first and the 6th. Anyway this was a really fun race and got a lot of experience !
VEGA Round 1:
Quali : P9 Race 1 : P9 -> P6
Race 2 : P6 -> P6
Final : P6 -> DNF
I'm very very sad and disappointed about the final. I was 5th and a driver took me out on the final corner on the second lap. Overall it was a strong weekend with strong pace on the Saturday. I've acquired a lot of experience in starts and wheel to wheel racing. I had a lot of fun in the first two races.
VEGA ROUND 2:
Qualy: P17
Race 1: P17->P11-> P14("penalty")
Race 2: P14-> P16 -> P21("penalty)
Final: P21-> P16
Globally a bad weekend with no pace in qualy. Got carburetor problem the whole first two practice day. In the start of the first race some guys in the front just go at 4kmh on the formation lap + brake checks. I've got a pretty decent pace on that Race with a P11 and closing on the 10th. In the second race I start on the outside and the driver in front just brakes in the start at the moment when the lights went out. On the final we took a risk to put a higher stroke but it didn't pay with no straight line speed. I haven't been really good on this weekend but it happens.
Kappelen Race 2:
Qualy: P5
Race 1: P5->P7->P5
Race 2: P5->P4
Final: P4->P3->P4
Overall, it was a really good race! The drivers were clean and the starts went smoothly, which is a pleasant change from some other championships. I had a great time, and everyone was fair, contributing to a fantastic atmosphere. I’m a bit sad that I couldn't hold onto my third place, but I know that’s part of the learning process. Big thanks to my mechanic and the marshals.
VEGA Round 3:
Qualifying: P16
Race 1: P16 → P12 (red flag) → P19 (penalty)
Race 2: DNF (another red flag)
Race 3: P26 → P16
Friday was pretty clean and I started to find some pace.
On Saturday, we kept working on the setup. I then crashed after another driver moved back onto the racing line right in front of me. I was doing around 80 km/h while he was at about 30 km/h. Luckily, there wasn't any major damage.
During the last session, my engine seized, so once again I couldn't finish the session.
On Sunday, I set my best lap of the weekend in qualifying but only ended up P16, just 0.3s away from P4.
In Race 1, I fought my way up to P12 with strong pace—faster than the top 10—before the race was stopped with a red flag after two drivers crashed, with one being taken to hospital.
I then received a penalty because my front spoiler mounting bracket had broken.
Race 2 was over before it really started. On the formation lap, the leaders suddenly braked at the exit of a blind corner, causing another driver to hit me at full speed before crashing into someone else.
The result:
Bent chassis
Bent rear axle
Bent steering tie rod
Bent sidepod
Before the final, my mechanics somehow managed to swap the engine from my TB Kart onto my old Birel chassis, allowing me to make the start. Huge thanks to them for the incredible work.
Unfortunately, that chassis was still set up for Lyss, so the balance was completely wrong for Vesoul. Even so, I managed to finish P16.
Seeland Round 2:
Qualifying: P1 🥇
Race 1: P1 ➜ DNF (engine seized)
Race 2: P18 ➜ P8 (+10)
Final: P8 ➜ P4 (+4)
I love this track. What a special weekend, full of twists and emotions.
We arrived at the track on Saturday and started finding our pace during the afternoon. I was fast all day and went into qualifying full of confidence. During the evening session, I couldn't find a slipstream from anyone, but that didn't stop me from taking my very first pole position. I'm really proud of that achievement.
Heading into Race 1 on Sunday, I was very nervous for my first pole start, but I got away well and kept the lead for the first six laps. Unfortunately, my engine suddenly seized, forcing me to retire while leading the race. That was a really tough one to accept.
Thankfully, someone was kind enough to lend us an engine, allowing us to continue the weekend.
Starting P18 in Race 2, I made a strong comeback by gaining 10 positions in just 14 laps to finish P8.
In the final, I had a mega start from the outside line. I gained one position into Turn 1 around the outside, another in Turn 3, and a third in Turn 7. Later in the race, I closed the gap to P4 and completed the overtake in Turn 7. Unfortunately, although I had the pace to fight with the front runners, the gap to the podium was simply too big to close.
Overall, it was a strong weekend with great pace and my first-ever pole position. Motorsport can be cruel... and this weekend reminded me of that once again.
Finally, a huge thank you to all the marshals for ensuring a clean and safe event. It was an amazing weekend with great racing, fair competitors, and an awesome atmosphere.
